The incident comes on the heels of a 37-year-old woman from Pennsylvania who revealed that she was scammed out of $450,000 by a man who posed as a French wine trader after meeting him on Hinge, an online dating app. It still took her some time to second guess the relationship after Siqueira began to expose her to a great deal of psychological pressure.Īfter some background research on him, she was able to discover that he was married with kids and filed a report with the police in the Federal District town of Formosa.Īuthorities believe other women may have been conned by Siqueira and hope that anyone who was also deceived by him will come forward. The woman felt sympathy for Siqueira's well-being and took out a loan to help him with the medical expenses. There was also the time when he lied about being infected with COVID-19 and of being diagnosed with thrombosis. Siqueira on one occasion sent the victim photos of children he alleged were sick and received donations to help cover their medicinal expenses. The woman is said to have spent $240 to purchase three dresses to attend Siqueira's bogus graduation, a mass and dinner, and gifted him approximately $400.
